Mercedes-Benz Electric GLC to Launch in India on November 4 With Local Assembly
The launch of Mercedes-Benz India, the new electric GLC SUV in the country is scheduled on November 4, 2026, this will add a locally assembled model to its growing electric vehicle portfolio. The company will begin accepting Expressions of Interest (EOI) October 5.
The car will be manufactured at Mercedes-Benz India’s plant in Chakan, Pune , Maharashtra. According to the company, the model is an introduction of its next-generation electric SUV architecture in the Indian market. The local production accelerates the India launch within a very short period of time after its international introduction.
For India, GLC in the 400 4MATIC specification will be offered initially. The SUV uses a dual-motor all-wheel-drive system combined with a 94kWh battery. It produces a combined 360kW, or around 489bhp, and 800Nm of torque. Benz claims the SUV can go from 0 to 100kmph in 4.3 seconds and can achieve a top speed of 210kmph.
The electric GLC is based on an 800-volt electrical architecture and supports DC fast charging at up to 330kW. The company claims a fast charge from 10% to 80% in about 22 minutes under suitable conditions. The company also claims a WLTP-rated range of up to 715km, although the actual range can vary depending on configuration and driving conditions.
The India-specific model will use the standard wheelbase, measuring 2972mm between the axles. The electric SUV measures 4845mm in length, 1913mm in width and 1644mm high. It offers 570 litres of boot space, which can increase to 1740 litres with the rear seats folded, along with a 128-litre front storage compartment.
Inside, the GLC Electric features Mercedes-Benz's 39.1-inch MBUX Hyper screen, combining the digital instrument cluster, central infotainment display and front passenger screen. The vehicle also gets the fourth-generation MBUX system, with AI-based functions and technology from Microsoft and Google integrated into the infotainment and navigation experience.
The SUV includes technologies like AIRMATIC air suspension, rear-wheel steering and Mercedes-Benz's MB.DRIVE , a driver-assistance system. The rear-wheel-steering system can turn the rear wheels by up to 4.5 degrees, which help reducing the vehicle's turning circle.
With its local assembly, long claimed driving range and high-voltage charging system, the GLC Electric will expand Mercedes-Benz India's range of locally produced electric vehicles when it arrives in November.
